Master Tim Sheehan, Owner/Chief InstructorMaster Tim

The martial art of Kuk Sool Won™ has been a huge part of Master Tim's life since 1983. He earned the rank of 5th degree black belt, which is considered master level in Kuk Sool Won in October, 2005.

In 1996 and 1997, Tim won back to back grand championship trophies at the Kuk Sool Won™ World Championships. He believes tournament competition is important for developing self-confidence, and performing under pressure, and that the trophies and medals are not of any importance when compared to the experience gained, and the development of skills that happened during preparation for the tournament.

Tim has run San Mateo Kuk Sool Won since 1994. He is very proud to continue the legacy of this school which has now been in San Mateo since 1981. As chief instructor, Tim strives to focus on the mental aspects of martial arts such as self-confidence, self-discipline, self-respect and concentration. He believes that a person's entire life can be changed for the better when that person gains any of these qualities through martial arts.

Tim has decided to dedicate himself to educating the community about the benefits of martial arts. In recent years, he has been very active in teaching in public schools' after school programs and summer camps.

“You too can do martial arts. All it takes is desire, consistency and repetition, and the skills will come.”
